The state has a maritime border with Rhode Island east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Ontario to the west and north, and Quebec to the north.
One of the most important monuments is the Statue of Liberty , It was a gift from the french people in 1886 to commemorate the centennial of the Declaration of the Independence of the United States and as a sign of friendship between the two nations.
